School Meals
These are available as in other Local Authority schools and all children are encouraged to stay to lunch. Unless the pupil qualifies for free meals, the charge from September 2008 will be £1.65 per day/£8.25 per week - which must be paid in advance on Monday mornings, or the first day of the school week. All children
are provided with a supply of coloured envelopes for parents to send the correct dinner money to school.
Please ensure that all details are completed as requested. If you do not have the correct money available or it is more convenient, please send a cheque payable to Hartlepool Borough Council (payment can be made weekly, monthly or termly in advance).
The envelopes also provide a certain amount of security when
children are carrying money to school. We require a full half term’s notice for any change in dining arrangements.13 Pupils taking school meals are in the care of the Children’s Services Department during the dinner breaks and must not leave the school premises without specific permission.
If parents wish their children to leave the premises after their meal, they should inform the school in writing and make arrangements for the child to be collected.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS:
These are supplied to children whose parents are in receipt of Income Support or Income Based Job Seekers Allowance. If you think your child may be entitled to free meals please contact the school or the Education Offices, Hartlepool Borough Council - 01429 524122. Every effort is made to ensure that children receiving free school meals cannot be distinguished from other children.
It would be useful for school performance statistics if you could inform us if you are eligible for free school meals but do not want to make an application.
MID-MORNING BREAKS:
KS1 children are provided with a piece of fruit at school, KS2 children may bring a piece of fruit into school if they wish.
The school is carpeted and to avoid mess on the floors, we have to ban sweets (including chewing gum). Water is available from cloakrooms, dispensers, at the dining tables and bottles (not glass) may be brought into school for use in the classroom.
